Candidates of any age who are having any sort of talent can audition for the show. Their performance is judged by a panel of judges. The current lineup includes Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden, & David Walliams. The prize/reward for winning the show is a cash prize (the amount keeps varying over the show’s history), plus the winning team is also given an opportunity of performing at the Royal Variety Performance in front of the British Royal Family’s members i.e Queen Elizabeth II or the Prince of Wales.

Format of Show:

The show organizes 2 rounds of auditions for the participants. The 1st round known as the “open auditions”, takes place across many different cities around the UK. The 2nd round is known as the “Judges’ Auditions and”, takes place the following year during January & February, before the broadcast of the show. All those participants appear in the 2^nd Round Auditions who made it through the 1^st round. The 2^nd Round Auditions are held within a selected set of cities like Cardiff, Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester & London.

Each participant who auditions is provided a tag number by the production team & remains in the waiting area until called out on the main stage, giving them some amount of time to get ready for their act. Having been allowed onto the main stage, the participant will usually be asked by one of the judges for their name & what they have planned to perform, along with some other details such as age, personal background, occupation & what they wish to achieve if they won.

After this, each participant is then given 3 minutes to show their performance before both the judges & a live audience, with some of the acts being supported by a backing track offered by the production team. If at any time, the judges observe the performance to be uninteresting, unconvincing, or entirely inaccurate, they may use the buzzer in front of them, which changes the Xs from white to red. If all the judges happen to press their buzzers, then the performance is immediately finished. However, a judge can disclaim their buzzer’s use if they come to realize that they had done so prematurely before watching the performance to the end.
